Overview
For Week 6, we’re breaking our pattern a little bit.
Lesson 1
You’ll be workshopping your ideas for your Midterm Paper, which is due on the first day of Week 8. This will give you a chance to discuss your ideas (or share a draft or outline) with classmates as well as asking the professor for advice if you want to. Please see below for a copy of the handout regarding expectations for your Midterm Paper.
Also, here are a couple of example term papers you can review, which will give you some idea of what I’m expecting from you. You should at least read the readings of “[The Ones Who Walk Away from] Omelas” and “The Trouble with Tribbles”; the reading of The Host is optional, because it’s longer and more complicated than I expect from you.
Lesson 2
We’ll be having meetings to discuss your Participation Self-Assessment. I’ll post a meetings schedule early in the week, before the meeting day. Please don’t be late for the meeting. Also, please make sure you’ve filled out both pages of the Participation Self-Assessment form linked below and bring it to the meeting.
The meetings schedule will be made available to you in an announcement using the campus LMS.
Journaling
For Week 6, you should simply write about what you’re planning to write about for your Midterm Paper. You don’t need to post a paper here, just share your thoughts and the feedback you got from classmates and/or your professor on the topic during our class on Lesson 1 of our class this week (on Thursday). It can be messy notes or thoughts, it doesn’t need to be well-formed writing.
