This week, we’re talking about “timey-wimey” stories, specifically Palm Springs (2021).
You can see the movie on Netflix, if you have a subscription. Otherwise, you’ll have to figure out a way to access the movie. (Maybe watch it with a friend who has a Netflix account?)
Day 1
I’ll briefly talk about the history of SF stories that play with time, and we’ll go through the vocabulary comprehension questions on the handout linked below.
Day 2
We’ll spend the first half of class on the Discussion Questions, and in the second half of class we’ll do the Creative Exercise on the handout linked below. Assuming there’s time, at the end of class we’ll share our ideas.
Journaling
For this week’s Journal, let’s play with time. Imagine you found or built a time machine, and are the only person in the world with one. To what place and time (past or future) would you travel if you had a time machine? What would you want to see or do during your trip across time? If there was a possibility of being trapped in the other time, would you be willing to risk it?
