Hi there! This page is just a little information about me, your professor for the current semester. Sometimes students ask questions about me, so I am making this information available to you in order to answer those questions.
I’m a Canadian, but I have been in South Korea for so long that my youngest students were not born yet when I arrived. (I did leave for a couple of years, but that’s it.)
I’ve been at Korea University (Sejong Campus) since 2015.
I’m a writer with many publications in English. My writing has been translated and published in Korean, Chinese, Czech, and Italian. I’ve also collaborated on a number of translations from Korean to English. I’ve been a finalist for a number of writing awards and wrote the screenplays for two award-winning short films.
I’m also a musician, and play saxophone, various wind synthesizers, and (a little bit) drums. Along with taking degrees in English Literature and Creative Writing in English, I studied music composition and saxophone in university. I have written and arranged jazz, rock, chamber, and orchestral music, as well as collaborating on electronic/ambient music and composing/recording soundtracks and doing sound design for short films.
Other hobbies include 3D printing, tabletop gaming, brewing beer, and occasional arts & crafts projects.
Finally, I’m a dad. I’ve been a dad since my first year at Korea University, and my family keeps me busy.
