Course Overview
Hi everyone!
This is the Week 1 folder. Each week of our class, there will be a main Week X folder like this available in Course Materials, where X is the number of the day for the class.
This folder will usually include a short summary of what we’ve done in class that day, plus links to other folders (like the Textbook-Related Videos and the Non-Textbook Related Videos, along with exercises to support your learning in those videos), any materials you may need (like handouts), an explanation of the work you need to complete for the day’s class, and so on.
For example: in today’s class, I gave you an overview of the course, my expectations, and the grading system, and explained your homework for today’s class.
There are no required videos in this class. However, Textbook and Non-Textbook videos have been provided for you.
- Non-Textbook Related Videos cover what I discussed in class lectures. They’re helpful if you missed class or want to review.
- Textbook-Related Videos cover textbook-related contents you need to know, but which I (for several reasons) don’t cover in class. They mostly explore mostly grammar topics in depth, with a focus on the exercises you’re expected to complete in the textbook.
Not all weeks contain video content of both kinds (or any video content at all), but many do. All videos are optional but are provided as a resource for you, whether for missed lessons or review, or in case you need a slightly different explanation of something from the one already available (in lectures or in the textbook). Your video viewing is not tracked.
Hopefully you were in class during Week 1. Here’s what we did:
- Day 1: We discussed the syllabus and course outline.
- Day 2: We decided on topics for your Sample Paragraph, which you must post to the Paragraph Blog by the end of next week.
That’s it for Week 1. There’s no homework, so enjoy your week and see you in Week 2.
