Week 7

In our Week 7 class, students presented their fairytales and got some personalized feedback on their presentations, focusing on their use of voice and gestures but also on aspects of confidence, energy, and setting the mood for a presentation.

WEEK 8

We also discussed our plan for Week 8, and agreed that a presentation exam so late in Exam Week would not be likely to do well. Therefore, we’re going to count the assignment from last week, where each student posts a video of an effective speaker and every student comments about each post, as a make-up task for the Week 8 lesson. You can see a link for the Effective Speaker Videos forum below.

Deadline: End of the Day (11:59PM/23:59) on Thursday, 26 October

MIDTERM EXAM

I also announced the date for our Midterm Exam. The Midterm Exam will happen during our normal classtime in Week 9

Most of the details for the Midterm Exam are mentioned in the Week 6 folder. However, I emphasized one detail in class today: you need to try to make your audience feel a specific emotion. Although you are going to tell a ghost story, the feeling doesn’t need to be fear: it could be sympathy, sadness, disgust, panic, worry, anger, inspiration, or any other feeling you want the audience to share with you. Your main job (besides using all your skills to tell an interesting story) is to make us feel a specific emotion clearly during your presentation.

For more details, see the Week 6 lesson.
