In Week 7, our focus is tying up any loose ends that remain before your Midterm Exam.

Week 7 Lesson

For Week 7, I’m leaving some time free for answering any questions students wanted to ask.

However, we also worked individually, and then in groups to compare notes, on an Editing Exercise. (A copy of the handout is below, in case you missed class and would like to try editing a problematic text.)

I talked a little bit about the editing process, and gave you some tips for high-pressure editing situations (like on a live exam).

Textbook Videos and Exercises for Week 7

There are no textbook-related videos or exercises in the textbook for Week 7! However, this week’s Non-Textbook Video is required viewing. See below.

Weekly Paragraph Practice

Here’s a great opportunity to practice the writing process you’re expected to demonstrate on the upcoming Midterm Exam. For this week, choose something “boring” that you can see wherever you’re reading this. If you’re in your bedroom, maybe choose your bookshelf, or a book on the bookshelf, or choose some other item in your room. If you’re in a coffeeshop, choose some item you can see, and so on.

Use the entire writing process we’ve studied, including all steps from the process I discussed in Week 3

Non-Textbook Materials for Week 7

Unlike in most weeks, there’s no Non-Textbook Video for this week. However, your Midterm Exam is already available and I strongly recommend going to the Week 8 folder as soon as possible to check it out.
